John Cronin, President – Director 2000 to Present

John is an educator and attorney who has long been involved with the GCBS. He is a graduate of Nassau Community College (AA), Molloy College (BA), St. John's University (M.S. Ed) and Hofstra Law School (J.D.). John was GCBS Vice President and he has pledged to carry on in the tradition of excellence set by past president Rob Alvey, and is honored to serve.

Elizabeth Bailey, Vice President - Director 2010 to Present

Elizabeth Bailey grew up in Valley Stream and Garden City, and graduated from Garden City High School. After attaining a BS and an MS in chemistry, she worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for 32 years in the field of air quality. (TVA is an agency of the federal government and is also the nation’s largest public utility.) Along the way she acquired a well-deserved reputation for being a perpetual student by obtaining three more degrees in the fields of computer science, theology and music. For her theology degree, she wrote a thesis on the basis for ecotheology in the Christian tradition, and she has subsequently made several presentations on this topic. After retiring from TVA, she returned to Garden City, where she now serves as a member of the Environmental Advisory Board as well as Vice President of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. She plays organ and piano at St Bernard Catholic Church in Levittown

Annette Seltzer, Secretary
Grew up in Queens. Graduated in 1965 & began my career as a legal secretary working in Manhattan.  After 30 years in the legal field, moved to a new field - bookkeeping - then to retirement.  Moved to Garden City South in 1989. Have a married daughter who is in the medical field working for gastroenterologists in Lake Success.
Began volunteering for the Bird Sanctuary in 2012 organizing files, etc. & in 2013 was nominated as their secretary.

Eugene "Tim" Martens, Director & Treasurer - 2002 - Present

Tim Martens currently serves as a project manager in Capital One’s IT department. A lifelong Garden City resident, Tim lives on Brixton Road with his wife Janet and two college age children, Kenneth & Laura.


Anthony Cenzoprano, Director 2011 - Present

Lifetime Garden City resident, husband of Janice and father of two. BS Biology/Geology Adelphi University, SUNY Downstate School of Allied Health at Brooklyn, Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed, Proprietor of The Physical Rehabilitation Center and The Physical Fitness Center in Garden City South. Responsible for fighting Suffolk County to provide pollution control to rain runoff into Shinnecock Bay. Loves the outdoors, nature, hiking and handy in the trades. Likes to tinker and repair things in the GCBS. Enjoys Rob Alvey's love of the environment, fellow geologist and preservationist.

Ralph Healey

Ralph Healey is a native Long Islander who has always had an interest in the environment. In addition to serving on the board of directors of the GCBS, he is also a member of the Nassau County Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee, and the Treasurer of the Friends of the Massapequa Preserve.  A practicing attorney, Ralph holds a Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law. He is also completing his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Long Island University. He currently resides in Garden City with his wife, Lauren (a teacher in the Garden City School District) and their twins, James and Madeline.

Patrick DiCaprio Esq.

Patrick is an attorney and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S) and Syracuse University College of Law (J.D.) He was an award-winning baseball columnist for He has been a volunteer for the Make-a-Wish Foundation for ten years, and is extending his volunteerism with the GCBS. Patrick became interested in the GCBS after moving to Garden City and stumbling upon it during a walk. Since then he has become an avid bird-watcher and is committed to keeping the GCBS a haven for the community’s bird and nature lovers. You can see him almost every day strolling the GCBS grounds.

Evan Sandgren

Evan has worked security for several Gov't contractors across long island including Long Islands famous Grumman. He now works for Security for Telephonics in a Corporate position. He lived in Garden city most of his life until he moved to Bethpage in 2016 with his wife. Evan Graduated Garden City High School in 2012 and joined the GCBS Board a year later.
