Environmental Stewardship Award

Congratulations to the 2009 Garden City Bird Sanctuary Environmental Stewardship Award winner, Bobby Horvath!  Bobby is the founder of the non-profit Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation. Based in Massapequa, Bobby and his wife take injured animals into their home and rehabilitate them until they are able to be released back into the wild if possible.

Environmental Essay Contest

Congratulations to Kelsey Whitney as the winner of the 2009 6th grade Environmental Essay Contest sponsored by the Garden City Bird Sanctuary! Kelsey was one of Mrs. Olsen's students at Garden City Middle School. There were over 140 entries to the third annual Environmental Essay Contest, so thank you to all participants. Kelsey will receive a $100 US Savings Bond for her efforts.
